THE MYSTERY BEHIND THE USE OF THE ANOINTING OIL IN DELIVERANCE
A while ago, a reader asked me in the comment section of our PRW Word War College YouTube channel to write a teaching on the mystery of the anointing oil and I waited for the message to come. Then lately something happened as a trigger and the message began downloading from the Holy Spirit realm.
Background story –
Now, the traffic on The Pen of the Ready Writer Blog began to increase tremendously from sometime in mid-2021 simply because I posted the teaching on how to win the war against the spirit husband/wife. The Lord knew that a large number of both men and women do suffer from this terribly distressing problem; and He began to lead them to the Ready Writer blog. Christians reach out practically daily from all over the world, seeking for answers; many having sought for deliverance in other ministries in vain. The Lord then led me to develop two 3-day fasting deliverance programs with a wide spectrum of teaching tapes from different Ministers, with prayers to break the yoke of the spirit spouse and send it packing permanently no matter the situation that brought it into the life of the victim. One program is for mature Christians and the other for those who are new babes in the Lord; and the results are the same – the spirit spouse leaves permanently, surprising the Counselee and myself as well. Blessed be God, the awesome Deliverer.
One key prophetic action the Lord told me to recommend was the use of the anointing oil. As part of the deliverance strategy, the Counselee must get a bottle of olive oil, present it to God, declare the given Scriptures on it and pray to ask God to turn it into Holy Anointing Oil like the one God told Moses to use for the Tabernacle to anoint the place and the tools used for sacrifice, as well as the Priests themselves. The Counselee would then add some of the anointing oil into his/her hair oil and body cream so that he/she gets anointed every day until the spirit spouse attacks stop, and even beyond, to maintain the victory. And we have always had good success with the deliverance programs, all thanks to God Who answers prayers.
But lately, a young woman who had gone through the advanced program reported back a month later that though the attacks have basically reduced to just three or so in the one month since she took the fast, one problem that refused to leave, and had even become heightened, was feeling the presence of evil entities around her as well as hearing their voices. Apparently though the spirit husband has lost his legal right to touch her, he still hung around with his children, waiting for any opportunity to strike! I took it to the Lord and He said to ask her if she used the anointing oil; and when I did, she said no, she didn’t because she could not understand the rationale behind its use. Now, she is quite right to test the spirit behind anything she is asked to do but I told her she should have asked me. The Lord then said even if she did, I only had some sketchy facts gleaned over the years from the teachings of other Servants of God to tell; I really did not have a full explanation to give her, I just know it works! Few days later, the Holy Spirit began to teach me why and how it works and here is the exciting message…
The use of the Anointing oil in Scripture –
We first hear of the anointing oil when God was giving Moses the instructions for building the Tabernacle in the wilderness on the way from Egypt to the Promised Land. The instructions for building the Tabernacle and all the implements of worship and also the robes for the Priests are recorded from Exodus chapter 25 to chapter 30 verse 21. After this, the Lord then told Moses to make holy anointing oil to consecrate and set apart the Tabernacle and the Priests unto Him…
Ex.30:22-31
Moreover the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23“Also take for yourself quality spices—five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane, 24five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil. 25And you shall make from these a holy anointing oil, an ointment compounded according to the art of the perfumer. It shall be a holy anointing oil. 26With it you shall anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the ark of the Testimony; 27the table and all its utensils, the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense; 28the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base. 29You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them must be holy. 30And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me as priests. 31“And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations. 32 It shall not be poured on man’s flesh; nor shall you make any other like it, according to its composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you.
Now in the Church age we do not add the spices to the oil because God warns that it must not be poured on the human body so we know that the oil used for anointing Priests and Kings must be plain olive oil which has been presented to God and turned into Holy anointing oil.
We are now the tabernacle/temple of the Lord and we can be anointed or anoint ourselves for healing according to James 5:14,15…
14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
So here, we have a clear instruction that we can use anointing oil with prayers for healing; and remember always deliverance is an expanded form of healing which is not limited to the body alone, as it could involve the spirit, the soul, marriage, finances, destiny and so on.
Now, let’s look at the meaning of the word anoint for a minute. I found several definitions of this word in the dictionary –
- Made holy in a religious ceremony that involves putting…oil on them
- Consecrate or separate unto God for His use
- Ceremonially confer divine or holy office upon (a Priest or Monarch) by rubbing or smearing with oil
- Dedicated to God…in a ceremony…by sprinkling with oil
So, one thing that is clear in all these definitions is that a thing or person is anointed to separate or dedicate it or him/her for the use of God. That means once a thing is anointed, it belongs to God and the Bible assures us that whatever is committed to God He will keep safe; and that includes guarding it from all evil…
2Tim.1:12b
…for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.
The Bible and history is full of examples of how God has been faithful to this promise. This is why newborn babies are dedicated to God till date and the ceremony usually includes anointing them with oil.
The Functions of the Anointing –
In the Garden of Eden before the Fall, Adan and Eve co-existed happily with all manner of wild animals, including lions, elephants, tigers and serpents and such without the animals ever attacking or harming them in any way. This was because God used to visit the First Family every evening and this must have left a protective aura around them. We know this because immediately they sinned, they became afraid and went to hide themselves! Adam said …I was afraid because I was naked… he did not say I was ashamed; which is the natural response to nakedness; and God had to ask him who told him all of a sudden that they were naked since they had been unclothed all along since they were created. So, in reality the nakedness Adam and Eve felt was not the nakedness of being physically unclothed, but the lifting of God’s protective aura which kept the wild animals away from harming them.
Now, the situation of the First Family before the Fall is exactly what happens when a person or an item is anointed – God becomes jealous over him/her or the item and clothes him/her or it with a protective aura of His Presence. Therefore, men and women are anointed for service for this very reason, so that it will be very clear in the spirit realm that they belong to the Most High. They wear God’s aura as a king wears his crown and as the Prophets of old used to wear mantles of skin to physically indicate their offices to anyone who sees them. When a house or a place is anointed as the Tabernacle and Temple were anointed in those days, demons tremble because of the aura of God’s Presence they sense in the spirit. Let me give you a practical example of this –
In the late 90’s I was home from the Mission field and was spending time with my brother who is a professor in one of our universities. One of my old school-mates who was a lecturer there began to send me tough cases for counselling and prayers. Two girls who lived with others in a room came for counselling because they were having nightmares and strange visitations in the night. So, I taught them to anoint their room by placing oil on the lintels and door and the side posts of the doors and windows of their rooms and commanding the demons out which they did and also sprinkled oil here and there on the floor for good measure and happily prepared for bed. Then they noted that when one of the other girls came into the room after that, she paused at the door, frowned and asked what they had done to the room! She was greatly displeased! They noted that she walked gingerly into the room, as though trying to avoid stepping on the sprinkled oil on the floor. Eventually she and another inmate moved out of the room and the dream attacks stopped.
Use of the Anointing Oil in deliverance –
Now, for persons undergoing our deliverance programs from spirit spouses, we recommend that they buy a bottle of olive oil and declare the given Scriptures on it, then raise it up to God saying the given prayers, asking Him to turn it into Holy Anointing Oil. Next, they are to mix some of the anointing oil into their body cream and hair oil and use daily to rub all over their body. Of course, the anointing oil by itself can be used on the body and hair without mixing it with any other cream. Having done that, anointing the body before bedtime will ensure that any spirit spouse attack will be aborted because it will encounter an aura of the Almighty around its former victim and keep off! Who knows if they see the anointing oil as fire all over the person because fire is another manifestation of the Holy Spirit.
Isa.10:27
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
This means that the use of the anointing with prayers and other recommended spiritual exercises, will eventually break the yoke, the unholy tie, the legal right of the spirit spouse to molest and defile; just as it breaks the yoke of the strongman of sickness and disease when used as directed in James 5:14,15 already quoted above.
